There are 19 academic staff in Environmental Science and Engineering Department, including 8 professors and 4 associate professors. Their research areas cover industrial water pollution control, environmental microbial technology, soil remediation, solid waste treatment and disposal, and transport of contaminants in environment. These researches are supported by many national, provincial or ministerial projects every year. Therefore, the department enjoys favorable experimental conditions.

Prof. Li Wang, Director of China Energy Society, Director of Chinese Society of Environmental Science, National Environmental Risk Control Expert,majored in environmental engineering, primarily engaged in treatment of mineral waste and environmental risk control. He has published over 130 peer reviewed articles and 8 books about environmental engineering, and has 30 national invention patents.

Research Area:

(1) Green utilization of pollutants as resources;

(2) Theory and technology of biofuel cell and its application;

(3) Environmental risk control technology.

Prof. Hong Liu, Member of Hubei Society for Environmental Science, majored in environmental engineering, primarily engaged in environment function material and treatment of waste water. In recent years, she has published over 150 peer reviewed articles, twice awarded the second prize of provincial technology progress, and the second prize of provincial excellent paper on natural science, and she also has 6 national invention patents.

Research Area:

(1) Advanced functional materials on the remediation of groundwater;

(2) Industrial water pollution control technology.



Prof. Tao Feng, Member of American Chemical Society, Reviewer of Desalination and Water Treatment, as well as RSC Advances, majored in environmental science and engineering, primarily engaged in treatment of waste water. He has published over 30 peer reviewed articles.

Research Area:

(1) Physic-chemical treatment of waste water;

(2) Advanced functional materials for waste water treatment;

(3) Application on natural biomass in water treatment.



Prof. Dajun Ren, majored in environmental engineering, primarily engaged in soil organic contaminated remediation and water pollution control. His research work is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Project of Excellent Fund in Hubei. He has published over 50 articles and has five invention patents on the remediation method based on lactase.

(1) The application of lactase in environmental remediation;

(2) Theory and technology of industrial water pollution control.
